Cardinal Pride Band wins first overall in first competition of the season

The Webb City Cardinal Pride Marching Band took first place overall Saturday in the Carl Junction Marching Festival.

Band director Butch Owens reported that in preliminaries, Webb City scored the highest among schools in Class C. In fact, Webb City’s score in prelims was the highest compared to bands of all sizes.

Webb City was also awarded Outstanding Winds and Outstanding Color Guard in prelims and the finals.

The afternoon prelims were held indoors because of the heat.

“We are so incredibly proud of the band and all of the hard work that they have put in so far this season,” says Owens. “They have persevered through all of this awful weather and shown that they are a very special bunch of kids. We could not be prouder of them!”
