Cardinals advance to Saturday semifinals

Webb City volleyball, seeded first in the Class 4 District 6 tournament that it’s hosting this week, advanced to the semifinals with a 3-0 defeat Wednesday over Springfield Catholic.

The Cardinals will next play at 11 a.m. Saturday against Hillcrest (8-19-2), which defeated Bolivar 3-0.

In the other semifinal, Carl Junction (15-13) will face Willard (22-10-4).

Semifinal winners will advance to the final at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Cardinals improved their record 22-10 as they defeated Springfield Catholic 25-14, 25-15 and 25-16.

Addy Maxwell and Jaylee VanBecelaere led in kills, with 7 each. Marlee Harper added 6.

Avery Pogue logged 14 sets, followed by Savannah Crane, with 13. Avery Gardner had 27 digs.
