The Webb City Cardinals are going to Ozark this Friday to get their third win.
The 1-1 Ozark Tigers lost their first game at home, 49-23, against Neosho before going to Willard for a 48-12 win.
It was during their first game in front of the home crowd last week that the Cardinals earned their second win by outscoring Waynesville 63-19.
Webb City struck early with three touchdowns in the first quarter and two more in the second quarter before Waynesville got on the scoreboard.
Mason Young completed a 65-yard touchdown pass to Carter Lee, and then Young ran for a 61-yard touchdown.
Drake Claborn finished the first quarter by taking a pitch 5 yards into the end zone. And then he opened the second quarter with a 56-yard run.
Levi VanBecelaere kept it going for the Cardinals with an 18-yard touchdown run.
Waynesville’s Wesley Rase completed touchdown passes on the Tigers’ next two possessions. 35-13
Webb City answered before halftime when Young ran 31 yards. 42-13
Waynesville scored first in the second half with a 53-yard touchdown run by Blake Estep. Only the Tigers’ first extra-point attempt was good. 42-19
VanBecelaere got the Cardinals going again with a 2-yard carry. 49-19
On the Tigers’ next possession, linebacker Barek Hoffman got a 25-yard pick-six to put the Cardinals ahead far enough (35-point lead) to start the fast clock. 56-19
Judah Ackerman ended the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown run. 63-19
Claborn averaged 9.9 yards per carry on 16 carries for 159 yards. Young ran for 119 yards and threw for 133 yards, completing four of eight passes.
Ethan Keller led the defense with five tackles (four unassisted).
