Cardinals come close to being district soccer champs

The Class 3 District 6 soccer tournament at Parkview came down to Webb City and Carl Junction in the final Monday.

And that championship final came down to overtime, with the Cardinals falling 1-0 to Carl Junction.

The fifth-seeded Cardinals defeated Springfield Central 1-0 in the opening round and then upset number-one seed Willard by the same score. They ended the season with a 7-15 record.

Carl Junction’s 13-7 Bulldogs will play in the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lee’s Summit against the Summit Christian Academy Eagles.
