Cardinals inaugurate new field with 5-inning walk-off conference shutout

Improvements include new turf, dugouts, backstop, fencing and terraced fan seating

The Webb City Cardinals ended their first game on their new field early Tuesday by scoring their 10th run in the fifth inning and holding Neosho scoreless.

In their second game on the new field Thursday, the 11-9 Cardinals will face Republic’s 13-7 Tigers. The last home games on the schedule are both on Saturday, Oct. 9, against Kickapoo and Rock Bridge.

 

Pregame ceremonies included a ribbon-cutting by the Webb City R-7 School Board, along with players and coaches. Superintendent Tony Rossetti, right, thanked the district patrons and credited the contractors.
