Webb City needed only five innings Wednesday to defeat the McDonald County Mustangs 11-1 and advance to the Class 5 District 7 semifinals.
At 6 p.m. Thursday, at Raytown South, the second-seeded Cardinals will face third-seeded Belton.
In the first game, No. 1 Carl Junction will take on the host school.
The district championship game will be at noon Saturday.
Mason Williams kicked off Webb City’s scoring Wednesday with a solo home run in the first inning.
In the Cardinals’ eight-run second inning, Luke Beverlin led off with a double to deep center. Karsen Myers bunted for a hit, and Braden Strickland reached on a walk.
With the bases loaded, Andrew Young delivered with a triple. Williams got on with a walk. Brock Renfro’s single brought in Young and Talan Haslip (pinch running for Williams).
The runs kept coming on doubles by Mason Young and Brody Eggleston.
Webb City scored again in the third and fifth innings.
The Mustangs got their only run in the first inning.
On the mound, Mason Young allowed two hits in three innings, and Braden Strickland allowed one hit in two innings.
The 17-13 Cardinals ended their regular season Thursday at home with an 11-1 win over Hillcrest in six innings.
