After a confidence-building 42-6 season-opening win at Glendale last week, the Webb City Cardinals are eager to show off their skills to the home crowd.
The first home game of the 2026 season will be at 7 p.m. Friday against Waynesville at Cardinal Stadium. Waynesville lost its first game of the season at home, 34-21 against Willard.
The Cardinals recovered quickly after allowing Glendale’s Falcons a six-play touchdown on their opening drive.
Blocking the point after touchdown was an invigorating way to start to the resistance.
Then, on Webb City’s first offensive play, Austin Arft caught a pitch from quarterback Mason Young and ran 80 yards for a touchdown. Brady Wallace’s point after touchdown was good to put the Cardinals ahead 7-6.
On the first play of Falcon’s succeeding drive, River Lenker caused a fumble that was recovered by Barek Hoffman and run back to Glendale’s 10-yard line.
Webb City’s second offensive play also resulted in a touchdown, as Arft took a handoff into the end zone. 14-6
The Falcons moved the ball with three passes into Webb City territory, but Dante Mills made an interception at Webb City’s 9-yard line and ran it back to the 22.
Webb City used up nearly 4 minutes on its next drive. Young’s 33-yard run was the highlight, but Drake Claborn carried on five of the 11 plays for three first downs and a total of 26 yards. Arft got the touchdown from 3 yards out. 21-6
Cooper Ray sacked Falcons quarterback Will Ross on the first play of their next drive. Ross later threw for a first down but was intercepted by Braylen Coleman at Webb City’s 30-yard line and ran it back to the Glendale 21-yard line.
Still in the first quarter, Drake got a 3-yard touchdown as the Cardinals took advantage of the short field. 28-6
The Cardinals held the Falcons on downs, and then opened the second quarter with 10-play 70-yard series that ended with Afrt’s 3-yard touchdown run. 35-6
It was in the third quarter when the Cardinals scored their sixth touchdown. Paxten Parrish had substituted for Young as quarterback by then, and he scored from 1 yard out. 42-6
