The Webb City boys cross country team kicked its season off with a hot start. The Cardinals traveled to Memphis, Tenn., for the City Auto Memphis Twilight Cross Country Classic and came home with a first-place finish.
Noah Lankard led the way with a fifth-place finish at 16:12.33. He finished less than a minute shy of the first-place time, run by Wade Patten, of Parkway West High School.

Out of 37 teams, Webb City came out on top with 89 total points, with a 0:30 1-5 split and 16:31 average.

Lady Cardinals Cross Country placed 4th with 134 total points during their trip to the Memphis Twilight Cross Country Classic.
Brooke Hedger led the way with a second-place finish, nearly breaking her own school record. She was 8 seconds behind the winner, Alex Lee (18.13.96), of Madison Central High School.
