Fresh from adding to their win totals Tuesday at McDonald County, the Lady Cardinals are playing at Nevada Thursday, and the boys are set to entertain Hillcrest Friday night in the Cardinal Dome.
On Tuesday, Jan. 21, in the Dome, the girls will play Carl Junction, and the boys will play Lebanon.
Homecoming will be Friday, Jan. 31, with the boys against Glendale. The girls will host Glendale the night before.
The girls dominated the McDonald County Mustangs 63-36. They took a 23-11 lead in the first quarter, were ahead 37-18 at halftime and added 18 points in the third quarter for a 55-30 lead before the last quarter.
A trio of Cardinals scored in double figures: Addie Burns, 15; Abby Sargent, 15, and Whitlee Keith, 14.
The girls are 7-5 as they prepare for Hillcrest. Prior to their 72-43 loss to Nixa, they defeated Pittsburg 69-36.
The 5-5 boys also won big, 74-52, at Pittsburg on Jan. 3, before going on a three-game losing streak. They lost 58-45 at Nixa and 50-48 against Poplar Bluff in the opening round of Joplin’s Kaminsky Classic.
After cancelations on Friday because of the snow, Webb City and Carl Junction played Saturday for third place. The Cardinals were leading 43-33 after three quarters but were outscored 26-7 in the fourth quarter for the 59-50 loss.
On the rebound Tuesday at McDonald County, the Cardinals built on their 47-45 halftime lead with a big third quarter, outscoring the Mustangs 28-12. They held on for an 86-70 win.
Holton Keith led all scorers, with 28. Three other Cardinals scored in double figures: Eli Pace, 16; Holden Johnson, 13, and Trae Turner, 12.
