The Webb City girls held a 30-19 lead at the half over Nevada on Thursday in the Cardinal Dome, but as anticipated, the 11-2 Tigers clawed their way back and even had a 6-point lead with 4 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
It was 55-55 when regulation ended, and then both teams scored 3 points in the first overtime. Webb City finally got the win with 4 unanswered points in the second overtime. The final score was 62-58.
Addie Burns had a big night with 35 points, while Abby Sargent added 21.
Tuesday’s game at Carl Junction was much different. Webb City took a 44-19 first-half lead and went on to win 79-36.
Four Cardinals scored in double figures: Abby Sargent, 28; Addie Burns, 16; Brecklynn Sargent, 12, and Whitlee Keith, 10.
The 10-4 Cardinals will be back in the Cardinal Dome Thursday against Forsyth.
In the home “double header” Tuesday against Central, the girls varsity game will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the boys varsity at 7:30 p.m.
