
The Webb City boys seemed to be outmatched by Willard during the first quarter of their home game Friday. But they turned that 17-5 deficit into a 2-point (29-27) lead at halftime.
The Cardinals built their lead by another 2 points in the third quarter and outscored the Tigers 22-18 in the fourth quarter for a 65-57 win.
Carson Anderson led the Cardinals with a season-high 19 points, including a two-handed dunk in the final 10 seconds. Four of his teammates also scored in double figures: Hudson Matthiesen and Slade Hurd, with 11 apiece, and Mason Young with 10.
Five seniors honored on senior night were Hurd, Holden Johnson, Matthiessen, Grayson Smith and Trae Turner.
On Tuesday, the 15-8 Cardinals traveled to Parkview for a 50-45 win. They’re now 4-0 in the Central Ozark Conference west division.
Jackson Adams led the Cardinals with 15 points, and Young added 14. Matthiesen had 11 rebounds.
There are three regular-season games left: Friday at Ozark, Tuesday at Neosho and then Friday, Feb. 27, at Joplin. Districts will start the week of March 2 at Willard.
