The Webb City boys golf team on Friday defeated Carl Junction in the 14th annual Papa John’s Match Play Championship at Briarbrook Country Club.
Historically, since 2009, Webb City has won eight matches while Carl Junction has won six times. The Cardinals are led by senior Braxten Cahoon (holding the trophy) and coached by Jackson Boyer (far right).
The Webb City girls soccer team, above with the trophy they won at the Lebanon tournament on March 18, now has six wins and four losses.
They’re next home match will be Tuesday against Carthage, followed by Nixa here on Thursday, April 20.
Webb City baseball is coming off a 4-run shutout over Branson here Tuesday. Kaylor Darnell got the complete-game win by striking out 9 and allowing just 3 hits.
Shaun Hunt had two hits and 3 RBIs, while William Hayes also had two hits.
The Cards will be seeking their ninth win against six losses when they entertain Republic Thursday and Hillcrest Friday.
