In 1940, the Carterville Christian Church members hired their first full-time minister, and it was during that year that the church saw its greatest growth.

In the 1940s, the Carterville Christian Church was located at the corner of Tennessee and Hall Streets. The wooden frame building in the photo was torn down and replaced with a new structure in 1975. Now, the church is located on the east edge of town.

An article from the Webb City Sentinel stated approximately $275 was raised on Easter Sunday by church members, most of which would be used for repairing the church building and parsonage at Tennessee and Hall streets.

In 1941, O.D. Johnson was the minister.

The Rev. James Woolsey was listed as the pastor in 1947.
