An article we ran across that was printed in 1925 reminded us of this photo of the building that housed City Hall and a drug store.
The article mentioned that Charles Metcalfe, an early-day Webb City resident, was the editor of the Webb City Times, a fore-runner of the Webb City Sentinel.
In addition, Metcalfe opened the first drug store in Webb City, with Ed Hall as a partner.
The drug store/City Hall building was located on the northwest corner of Main Street and Broadway. That corner is most associated with the Webb City Bank, which later became Mid-Missouri Bank, at 101 N. Main St.
According to other reports, Metcalfe left Webb City in 1886.
