Charlie 22 Outdoors is partnering with the Risen Ranch, east of Carthage, to help prevent veteran suicides by offering horse therapy sessions.
Applications for the July 13 horse therapy session are due June 12. Two later sessions are scheduled for Sept. 14 and Oct. 5. Application deadlines for those are Aug. 9 and Sept. 4, respectively.
Experience with horses is not a requirement.

To reflect estimated changes in the wholesale cost of natural gas, Spire is adjusting its rate in this area effective June 5.
Residential customers were paying a purchase gas adjustment rate of approximately $1.02 per Ccf. Since June 5, the rate has decreased $0.10 to approximately $0.92 per Ccf.
The Missouri Department of Conservation has announced that structural concerns regarding vehicular and pedestrian bridges have caused the Walter Woods Conservation Area south of Joplin to be closed until further notice.
A date for reopening the area has not been set because of EPA remediation work that is scheduled to begin in the Walter Woods area later this year.
MDC reminds those who enjoyed the trails at Walter Woods that the Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center, located at 201 Riviera Drive in Joplin, has a network of trails that connects to trails managed by the city of Joplin. The Shoal Creek Center also has a full schedule of programs for the summer. People can learn more about Shoal Creek’s trails and its programs by calling (417) 629-3434. People can also sign up for text alerts from the Shoal Creek Center by calling the same number.
