Public works employees were putting up Christmas decorations this week to get shoppers into the mood for this weekend’s annual downtown Holiday Merry Market. It starts at 5 p.m. Friday and continues Saturday.

Farmers market invites entries in pie-baking contest and Harvest Basket drawing
A pie baking contest and auction will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Webb City Farmers Market.
Entries are encouraged from seasoned bakers to those just starting out. All pies must be homemade and baked by the entrant.
Pies are to be submitted by 10 a.m. sharp at the information table in the center of the pavilion.
Judging will be based on taste and presentation. Creative use of seasonal ingredients will have an edge.
“We’re looking for innovative and creative ways to incorporate fresh, seasonal ingredients,” says Roen Procter, market director.
Harvest Basket drawing
At the same market, 11 a.m. will be the deadline to enter the Harvest Basket drawing. Vendors are donating items for the basket.
The $2 tickets be available to purchase at the information table Nov. 11 and 18 and online. For more information, visit the market’s Facebook page.
