Employees of Webb City are proudly distributing the $5,000 they have raised through their annual Badges & Burgers campaign to the organizations they support.
On Tuesday, Police Chief Don Melton led a contingent of fellow city employees as they presented a check for $2,000 to the Webb City Senior Citizens Center Advisory Board.
Another $2,000 was deposited into the Webb City Employee Fund.
Webb City CARES and the United Way both received $500.
Most of the money was raised through the sale of burgers and a silent auction. Another $840 was contributed by employees through payroll deduction, which was used to buy fundraiser supplies, such as the burger patties and cookies. Other supplies, including buns, chips, cheese and chips, were purchased with help from local businesses.
Melton said they had planned to serve 520, but he wound up buying 200 more burger patties because they ran out. There were 335 meals delivered and 320 meals served at the fire station.
