The Webb City Council completed its agenda quickly Monday for the second time in a row, with Jerry Fisher, mayor pro tem, sitting in the mayor’s chair.
Mayor Lynn Ragsdale missed both March council meetings because of a health issue but is expected to be back for the council’s next regular meeting on April 13.
City Administrator Carl Francis was also absent.
Two low bids from Consolidated Pipe & Supply Co. were accepted for two pipe replacement projects on First Street. From East Street to Hall Street, 1,000 feet of pipe will be purchased for $26,050. And from East Street to Tom Street, 800 feet of pipe will be purchased for $22,743.
A hydro chlorine analyzer for Well No. 8 will be purchased from Hawkins Inc. for $5,800.
The council voted to allow the fire department to purchase replacement thermal cameras that firefighters attach to their air packs so they’ll have them handy to detect heat sources. Fire Chief Andrew Roughton said they will help ensure the firefighters’ safety.
He received a $2,250 grant from HeroFund USA to pay half the cost of four SEEK 300 thermal engineering cameras. Five other thermal cameras will be purchased at a cost of $16,230.
Jim Dawson (4th Ward) announced that an old mail cart has been restored and will be returned to the front of King Jack Park. It will be dedicated at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, in honor of Jim Boyd, a longtime parks employee.
