Dakota DeGraffenreid led the way for Webb City Thursday with a hat trick in the team’s 8-0 shutout victory against conference opponent Springfield Central.
Alex Maturino and freshman Avery Pogue trailed right behind DeGraffenreid with two scores of their own. Sammy Gallardo also found the net once.
In the 7th minute, the Cardinals found a pair of scores. Maturino scored the first goal of the game, and 24 seconds later, DeGraffenreid found a goal in the back left corner of the net.
In the 8th minute, Avery Pogue put Webb City up 3-0. Webb City scored 3 goals within two minutes of the game.
DeGraffenreid found her second goal of the game in the 17th minute, with no defenders to stop her.
Sammy Gallardo shot her only goal of the game in the 35th minute. Her goal gave Webb City a 5-0 lead at halftime.
Pogue has emerged this season as a compliment to the opposite side of DeGraffenreid. In the 44th minute, Pogue outran a pair of Bulldog defenders and fired a shot deep to find her second goal of the night. She’s now scored 4 goals in her last two games.
In the 45th minute, Maturino also found her second goal of the night.
DeGraffenreid wrapped the game up early in the 57th minute with nobody to stop her besides a Central goalkeeper. She won her solo challenge and gave the Cardinals their 8-0 victory. The goal put her up to 8 goals on the season.
Webb City improved to 4-2 on the season. The Lady Cardinals have outscored their opponents this week 18-2. On the season, the team has outscored their opponents 29-7. For reference, the team scored a total of 27 points in their 2023 season, including postseason play.
