The Webb City JROTC Rifle Team competed against 25 other teams last weekend at the Missouri State Rifle Championships in Washington, Mo.
A team consisting of Gabe Elder, Zachary Chronister, Yaisa Walker and Aleena Arias placed second overall. The only team that beat them was the reigning national champion.
Although Webb City didn’t enter a basic (new shooter) team because of some COVID-19 complications, three freshmen new shooters made a clean sweep of the individual medals in that category. They are, : Yaisa Walker, first; Aleena Arias, second, and Katelyn Miller, third.
“Obviously this bodes well for the future of the team,” says Lt. Col. Dustin Elder. “I am proud beyond words at the hard work and dedication that the team has shown throughout the season with practice beginning in August.
“Next up – National Championships in two weeks!”
