The Class 5 District 7 basketball tournaments are underway, with the boys at Belton and the girls at Webb City.
Tonight (Thursday, March 2) the second-seeded Webb City girls will take on seventh-seeded Belton at 5 p.m. in the opening round of the tournament.
At the same time, No. 1 seed Carl Junction will play No. 8 seed Ruskin.
One game will be played in Cardinal Dome while the other is going on in Cardinal Gym.
In the 6:30 p.m. games, it will be Grandview (4) vs. Warrensburg (5) and Bolivar (3) vs. McDonald County (6).
The semifinal games will be played at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Up in Belton Wednesday night, Webb City didn’t need two overtimes as it did a week ago to defeat Carl Junction. The Cardinals (17-10) took a 30-14 lead at the half and finished 56-37.
Alex Martin led the Cardinals with 22 points and nine rebounds. Barron Duda added 10 points.
Webb City will play Ruskin at 7 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.
