Girls 54-35

Webb City had a huge second half Tuesday in the Cardinal Dome to defeat Rogers Heritage 54-35.

After trailing the War Eagles by 5 at halftime, 23-18, the Lady Cardinals caught up quickly in the third quarter and outscored their opponents 36-12 in the second half.

Abby Sargent led Webb City with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Addie Burns scored 11, Whitlee Keith 8, and Kirra Long 7.

The 3-2 Lady Cardinals travel to Logan Rogersville Thursday before going on break and preparing for the start of the Neosho tournament on Dec. 26. They’ll be home against Pittsburg on Jan. 3 and against Nixa on Jan. 7.

Boys 70-48

The Webb City boys won their home opener Tuesday by defeating Rogers Heritage 70-48.

It was a rebound for the Cardinals, who started the Carthage tournament last week with a win against Ft. Smith Southside but lost to Ray Pec 53-50 and settled for fourth place with a 68-65 loss to Carthage. Ray Pec won the tournament over second-place Carl Junction.

Eli Pace (31) and Holton Keith (26) were responsible for the bulk of the scoring against the War Eagles. Trae Turner added 9. On defense, they held Rogers to 9 points in the second quarter and 4 in the third quarter.

The 2-2 Cardinals will next participate in 12 Courts on Dec. 28. Like the girls, they will be home again on Jan. 3 against Pittsburg and Jan. 7 against Nixa. The Joplin tournament will start Jan. 9.
