Sophie Roy, a senior at Webb City High School has been selected for the 2021 Missouri Scholars 100 program, which honors 100 of Missouri’s top academic students in the graduating class of 2021.

The program also recognizes another WCHS senior, Elease McFall, as an honorable mention.

A recognition luncheon will be held Sunday, April 25, at Columbia.

WCHS principal Josh Flora announced the selection of Roy and McFall. The program, now in its 27th year, is sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals.

Selections are based primarily on a formula using the student’s grade point average and ACT or SAT score. Each nominee had to first meet criteria of an “Academic Decathlon,” which included 10 “events” designed to assure the academic strength of the student. Those selected must have earned a high GPA, an ACT score above 29, be ranked in the upper ten percent of the class, and have taken high-level courses in mathematics, science, English, and foreign language. The student must also have excellent attendance, be an exemplary school citizen, and be involved in the school activities.
