The lyrics of “I’ve Got a Feeling: Tonight’s gonna be a good night” on the Cardinal Dome sound system Thursday were appropriate for the third annual Webb City Junior High School Night of Unity.
The school has been recognized by Special Olympics for its success in involving all students. Night of Unity celebrates all students.
As special education teacher Kristin Huff puts it:
Night of Unity is a glimpse into the heart of what makes Webb City Junior High so special. Every day at WCJH, we work hard to foster an environment where every student feels seen, loved, and accepted. Our motto this year is “You belong here,” and we live that out through connection, inclusion and joy-filled moments. “Each Thursday, students are invited to join Breakfast Club, a time to gather, share a meal and build friendships while playing games and having fun. Unified PE is another highlight, where students with and without disabilities come together as teammates to practice for unified sports such as bowling, basketball, track and field and kickball. These moments are about more than just sports – they’re about teamwork, encouragement, and celebrating each other’s unique strengths. Our cheerleaders and dance team always bring energy and excitement, teaching cheers and dances while creating unforgettable memories. The Night of Unity is a celebration of these experiences – a reminder that we are stronger together and that everyone truly belongs here.
