Enterprise School educated
students for 100 years

The Webb City Area Genealogical Society has a large number of school photos – but it’s rare to see one with a cat (see top row.)

This 1936 photo of the Enterprise School, was contributed by Jim Wisdom, former principal of Carl Junction High School.

The Enterprise School was one of Jasper County’s earliest schools.  It was organized in the 1840s and was known as the Peace
Church School because classes were initially held in the Peace Church.  The Peace Church building was made of logs and served the community until it was torn down in 1909.

The location of the successor wood-frame school isn’t known. (Send a message to news@webbcity.net if you know.) It was used until 1944 when the Enterprise School consolidated with Carl Junction.
