The Webb City Area Genealogical Society is celebrating Webb City’s 150th birthday by awarding $150 to the winner of its scavenger hunt and architectural quiz.

There are 29 questions requiring the identification of 29 historical houses. There are no duplicate answers. Each house is one of the answers. “It only works one way,” says WCAGS volunteer Marti Pittman.

The first one to submit the questionnaire graded 100% – with all 29 questions answered correctly – will receive the grand prize, $150 in cash.

You can print out your entry below, complete it and then submit it in a decorated box at the main desk of the Webb City Public Library.

Although the deadline for submissions is Dec. 1, the contest for the grand prize will end as soon as the first correct questionnaire is submitted.

The winner will be announced on Webb City’s 150th birthday, Dec. 11, 2026.

Historic markers have been installed in front of all 29 houses. Graham McCaw started researching the homes and installing the markers two years ago as an Eagle Scout project.

The WCAGS took over the project with funds donated by Dale Shellhorn, a member of the Webb City R-7 Hall of Fame, to the Webb City Historical Society.

As Pittman attests, it took a lot of time, effort and research by a lot of people to complete research on the remaining homes.

WOW Printing installed the markers.

The best way to compete is to go to each of the 29 houses and look for architectural clues that are described on the brochure next to the map of houses.
