Coach John Roderique declares the Webb City football program’s future looks great, based on the number of kids (above) who turned out Saturday for a traditional Future Cardinals Camp.

Football season gets underway Friday with a jamboree at Joplin

Cardinals will play Lamar and Seneca

The Webb City Cardinals’ 2021 season is almost here.

Prior to the first game on Aug. 27 (at home vs. Joplin), Webb City will hit somebody besides themselves at the jamboree Friday. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. at Junge Field. The Cardinals will run plays against Lamar and Seneca – not Joplin.

Our friend, Brennan Stebbins, has written one of the better previews about the Cardinals, which appears on the Ozark Sports Zone website. Brennan is the author of “Big Red Dynasty,” which traces the program’s history from early in the 20th century until the book was published in 2015.

Back from taking the COVID year off, the Sentinel sports calendar is back. It folds to the size of a credit card. All fall sports are included. Pick one up at Kyle Hickam State Farm Agency, Kum & Go (MacArthur & Madison), Take-A-Break, Fast 4U, Miner’s Liquor or Maggie Jane’s.
