More customers were in the Mid-Missouri Bank lobby at 100 N. Main Street Tuesday than there have been in months. The withdrawls, though, were items of furniture and office equipment instead of money.
The bank building, a dominant feature on the main intersection for over 100 years, was officially closed in July.
Andy Perigo, community bank manager for Mid-Missouri Bank, said during the auction that offers to purchase the building are being accepted. It has not been listed yet.
The large downtown bank has been replaced by a new modern bank at 1421 S. Madison St. However, the downtown drive-in branch at 101 N. Main St. is still open.
The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
