Four WCHS students are among Globe’s creative writing winners

9th annual Joplin Globe Creative Writing Contest


Four Webb City High School students are among the winners announced in the recent Ninth Annual Joplin Globe Creative Writing Contest.
  • MacKenna Kelly, sophomore, won second place in the 9/10 Poetry category.  her English teachers are Nikki Owens and Doug Garrison.
  • Aubree Lassiter, freshman, won third place in the 9/10 Poetry category.  Her English teacher is Laura Henry.
  • Emily Eldred, junior, won third place in the 11/12 Personal Narrative category.  Her English teachers are Nikki Owens and Ashley Duke.
  • Taylor Ward, junior, won second place in the 11/12 Short Story category.  His English teachers are Nikki Owens and Ashley Duke.
“In total, Webb had 11 amazing writers submit their work to this year’s contest,” says instructor Laura Henry.
 
The photo and entry of each winning student will be published in an upcoming special section of The Joplin Globe. Winners will receive certificates and gift cards.
