A welding mishap is believed to be the cause of a fire the afternoon of Friday, July 1, that did extensive damage at the CBD Auto Plus garage, 501 N. Main St.

The Webb City Fire Department extinguished the fire and is investigating the exact cause. Although it seems it was accidental.

According to the report, a welding job was interrupted when the employee’s attention was required by a customer who drove up. The fire was noticed when the employee returned his attention to the welding job.

Besides damage to the building, two vehicles burned in the extreme heat.
