Girls and boys cross country teams to compete at state Friday



The Webb City girls and boys cross country teams will be competing at the state championships Friday at Gans Creek in Columbia.

Brooke Hedger placed third individually at the girls Class 5 District 2 meet Saturday at Nixa, with a time of 18:08.46.

The team took second place with a score of 60, while St. Teresa’s Academy won the event with 44 points.

Arceli Perez came in fifth, Brooke Collard 11th, Emma McKinzie 16th, Olivia Klotz 25th, and Tatyn Buster 31st. (Team points are the total of the top five runner’s places.)

The team will be trying to improve on its tenth-place finish last year when Hedger came in fifth.

The boys team placed fifth at the district meet with 96 points. Kickapoo was first with 57 points.

Noah Lankard came in 13th individually with a time of 15:57.95. He was followed by Andrew Dawson 16th, James Dalrymple 17th, Aaron Dawson 19th, James Baldassaro 31st, and Rylan Davis 38th.

In the girls JV race, Alexis Shuster was second with a time of 18:08.46. Aspen Ritchie placed third, Kristina Bundy seventh, and Iris Wishall 15th.

Jace Cross led the JV boys finished second with a time of 17:10.11. Oscar Antillon was fourth, Garyden Crooker eighth, and Mason Struckhoff ninth.
