Girls/boys double header Friday in the Dome

You can thank the snow storm if you like to see the boys and girls basketball games on the same night.

The boys game against Parkview was moved up from Tuesday to Monday to beat the storm. Now, the girls game against Ozark is being delayed from Thursday to Friday.

The girls varsity game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m., with the boys varsity game to follow. All games from now on in the regular season will be played in the Cardinal Dome.

Boys and girls will both play Neosho on Monday. Then the regular season will end with Joplin (girls Thursday, boys Friday).

Webb City will host the boys Class 5 District 7 tournament beginning March 5. Willard will host the girls district tournament.

The games here on Tuesday against Parkview were both sped up by a fast clock.

The 16-7 girls outscored the visitors 27-6 in the first quarter and 13-3 in the second quarter. They went on to take a 64-17 lead going into the fourth quarter and won 68-25.

Four Cardinals scored in double figures: Addie Burns, 14; Chasney Brown and Abby Sargent, 11 each, and Whitlee Keith, 10.

The boys result was the opposite as the Vikings held Webb City to 11 points in the first half and 26 points in the second half. The Vikings won 70-37.

Holton Keith had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the 12-11 Cardinals.

Both Webb City teams won last week at Willard.

On Thursday, the girls won 59-50, and the boys on Friday won 70-64.

Tied at 27-27 at the half, the girls outscored the Wildcats 12-8 in the third quarter and 20-15 in the fourth. Abby Sargent led Webb City in scoring with 19 points. Adalyn Maxwell added 13, along with 10 rebounds. Addie Burns scored 12 and grabbed 10 rebounds.

The boys held the lead early and extended it to 14 two minutes into the fourth quarter. Willard came within 6 at the end, 70-64.

Holton Keith led all scorers, with 27, and Eli Pace added 18.
