New season, same record-breaking story for one Lady Cardinal cross country runner. Brooke Hedger found herself breaking her own school record once again at the SWCCCA Richard Clark Invitational at Bolivar. Hedger already broke the school record twice in the 2024 cross country season. In Saturday’s meet, she finished in first place with an 18:07.27 mark. That’s 17 seconds faster than her previous record time of 18:20.20.
Not only did Hedger finish in first, another Lady Cardinal found herself with a fifth-place finish. Araceli Perez wrapped up her run with a final time of 19:00.20. Overall, Webb City finished second in the meet out of 36 schools.
Team results:
Webb City runners had a total time of 1:37:17.26 and an average of 19:27.46. The team finished with 91 points. West Plains took the first-place spot with 83 points.
The JV team also placed second. Alexa Shuster led the way, finishing in eighth, with a time of 21:35.30.
The team travels to Carthage Thursday, Sept. 11, for a meet that starts at 11 a.m.

Webb City’s boys cross country team placed fifth out of 55 teams competing Saturday at Bolivar in the annual SWCCCA Invitational. Noah Lankard and Andrew Dawson led the way for the team.

Webb City’s total time was 1:21.44.62, with a 16:20.93 average. They scored 158 points. 502 runners competed in the varsity meet.
The JV team finished in second, with Oscar Antillon finishing in fourth with a 17:23.96 time.
