This historic home near the south entrance to the Joplin Regional Airport is about to go for a ride. But first, the second floor has to be removed.

Historic Highway 171 house is being moved and restored

That stylish historic house we’re used to seeing on Highway 171 near the general aviation entrance to the Joplin Regional Airport will be gone soon – but to a better place.

Jami and Case Hardy are the new owners of the house and have hired Tindell’s Home Moving to pull it to their tract of land north of Alba, where they will restore it.

The house has been jacked up for the move. But the second story still has to be removed so it can be moved separately.

Jami Hardy says the house will be moved after midnight on two nights to avoid traffic, especially at the Stone’s Corner roundabout and Highway 43.

It will be a ride of 12 miles or so for the house to its new location.

Jami says she would love to have copies of old pictures of the house and know more about its history. If you have a picture or know more about the house, please share by sending to news@webbcity.net.
