It looks like the Cardinals’ homecoming game Friday will be another game to remember against their rival Carthage Tigers.
The Cardinals are unbeaten at 5-0. And although the Tigers are 4-1, their first game of the season was a loss (42-28) at Nixa. A couple of weeks later, the Cardinals broke the Nixa Eagles’ 31-game regular-season winning streak with a 23-21 win on their home turf.
Both teams are scoring around 40 points per game, while Webb City is only allowing its opponents 12.8 points, compared to Carthage’s 17.6 points.
Kickoff will be at 7 p.m., following homecoming coronation.
The game will have Class 5 District 6 implications. Webb City is currently ahead in points (48.8), while four other teams that have 4-1 records aren’t far behind (Republic 47.1; Carthage 46.8; Neosho 44.0; Branson 40.59). Willard and Parkview are also in the district.

Quarterback Mason Young got the Cardinals’ scoring started at Willard on Friday with a 39-yard scramble. And he completed a 7-yard pass to tight end Wesley Watkins to give Webb City a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
Young and running backs Abel Getz and Drake Claborn ran for three touchdowns in the second quarter.
That 35-0 score started the turbo clock as soon as the second half began.
In the fourth quarter, sophomore quarterback Brayton Robinson scored from 2 yards out, and Barek Hoffman ran 36 yards for the Cardinals’ seventh touchdown, making the score 49-0.
Getz was the leading rusher, with 127 yards. Young completed 5 of 10 passes.
Cooper Ray had 7 unassisted tackles (12 overall) and 2.5 sacks.
