John Roderique coaches 300th win

Legend began when Roderique led 1985 team to the Cardinals first semifinal

The Cardinals’ second win of the season happened to be the 300th of Coach John Roderique’s career.

Retired longtime assistant coach Richard Correll presented Roderique with a custom trophy after the game to the cheers of his players and home crowd.

Roderique, a 1986 Webb City graduate, came back in 1997 after an All-American career as a linebacker with the Pittsburg State University Gorillas.

He started with a 14-0 state-championship season and weathered a 5-5 second season.

Now in his 25th season, his teams have only lost 29 games while winning 300. He has coached 12 of the school’s 15 state championship teams. Twenty-two of his 24 teams have made it to the playoffs, where they have won 64 and lost 11. None of his teams have had a losing record.

Roderique was inducted this summer into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.
