Webb City High School seniors Katelyn Cox and Allie Shuster have been named Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Their principal, Amanda Eggleston, congratulated them and presented them with a letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program.
About 34,000 commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more that 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the PSAT last year.
Katelyn and Allie are both senior honor diploma students. Stacy Stockton, their honors program instructor, points out that they take rigorous courses and volunteer as tutors and in community service.
Katelyn is on the varsity tennis team, and Allie runs varsity cross country. Both students are planning to pursue medical careers.
