
The Webb City girls lost their first game of the season Saturday going for the championship of the Joplin Tournament. Unfortunately, they were facing one of Arkansas’s top teams, Farmington, and one of the top-ranked sophomores in the country, Easton McCollough, who scored 33 points.
Webb City sophomore Kenzie Horn was named to the all-tournament team.
The Cardinals began the tournament with 57-38 win over Blue Springs South and a 69-27 win over Blue Valley West.
Bouncing back after the championship loss, the Cardinals got a 60-38 win at Rogers Heritage on Tuesday.
After six games, the Cardinals are averaging 66 points per game. They have outscored their opponents 390-268.
Five players are averaging around 10 points per game. Abby Sargent leads with a total of 68 points (11.3 per game), followed by Horn, 11 ppg; Brecklyn Sargent and Adalyn Maxwell, 9.8 ppg each, and Addie Burns, 9.16 ppg.
McDonald County will be against the Cardinals Thursday night in the Cardinal Dome. After the break, the Cardinals are entered in the Rolla Tournament, Dec. 26-28.
