Webb City’s show choirs are on Cloud 9, as their director, Melinda Benham says, while preparing to host their own competition this weekend.
They’re on Cloud because of their recent successes at competitions in Carthage and Nevada.
The Webb City Singers won first place among Class 5 schools, were fourth runner-up overall and won the best show design award at Nevada.
Anna Beth Trueblood won best female soloist at Nevada and best soloist, along with Anne Marie Wright, at Carthage.
Bella Vocé won first in the unisex women category at Carthage, while DoMENance won the unisex men category. Bella Vocé also won first runner-up overall, and DoMENance won people’s choice.
The annual Show Choir Showcase starts with a competition for junior high and middle school choirs at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Ronald R. Barton Performing Arts Center.
Webb City groups performing in exhibition will be the Eupyhonics at 6:20 p.m., the Poloyphonies at 8 p.m. and the Cardinal Karaoke Winners at 8:30 p.m. The awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled for 8:45 p.m.
There will be 14 performances on Saturday, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Be there at 2:40 p.m. to see DoMENence perform and 4:20 p.m. to see the Bella Vocé show. The Cardinal Karaoke Winners will follow at 4:45 p.m.
Closing out the competition will be the Webb City Singers at 8:45 p.m. Since they’re the host school, Webb City show choirs won’t be competing for awards.
The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
