Officials in Webb City and Oronogo are asking residents to quit removing flags marking the location of utility lines.
Crews are now in both cities installing conduit for fiber cable. Sparklight is digging in Oronogo, while Sprocket is active in Webb City.
During the Oronogo Board of Aldermen meeting Monday, Public Works Superintendent Tony Cantrell told about telling one resident not to remove the flags from her yard. Upon his return, he saw she had pulled them again.
City Attorney Derek Snyder confirmed there could be legal repercussions for those removing the markers. Rather, he asks that residents comply by leaving the flags put until work on the easement next to their property is finished.
In Webb City, City Administrator Carl Francis said the flags are mostly being removed by those objecting to digging next to their property.

Utility companies working within the easements here in Webb City are asking that we request that residents do not remove the small flag markers being placed in utility easements.
Here’s why you should not remove Dig Rite markings:
