Library Friends to hold annual meeting

The annual meeting of the Friends of the Webb City Public Library will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the library.

All others interested in being more involved with the library are invited to attend and consider joining the organization.

The agenda will include a discussion about how to improve the library. Cookies and other refreshments will be served.

The Webb City Public Library is at 101 S. Liberty St.

WC CARES Walking for Cardinals Fun Walk

The Webb City CARES annual Walking for Cardinals Fun Walk will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 26, in the Cardinal Dome.

In addition to walking, there will be family fun, including inflatables, games and face painting.

The Webb City Reads organization will conduct games and have a book fair.

The $5 entry fee will include a t-shirt (while supplies last), snack and drink.

Schools will compete for prize money based on the number of participants they bring. The first-place school will receive $500. Other prizes will be $400 for second place; $300 for third place; $200 for fourth place, and $100 for fifth place.

Plant sales

CJ Cultivators Club

The Carl Junction Cultivators Club will hold its annual spring plant sale Friday and Saturday, April 25-26.

Perennials, annuals, indoor plants, succlents, herbs and organically grown heirloom vegetables will be for sale.

New this year will be a raffle for a garden wagon with tools, porch sign , plants and a surprise item.

The plant sale will be held in the Jean Roy Pavilion in Memorial Park, 409 Pennell St., Carl Junction. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Ozark Gateway Master Gardeners

The annual Ozark Gateway Master Gardeners Plant Sale will be held Saturday, May 3, behind Joplin Crosslines Ministries.

At various times during the sale, there will be quick 15-minute presentations about: growing tomatoes and peppers, growing succulents, growing herbs, and soil preparation.

Master gardeners are required to volunteer as part of their certification. One of the volunteer opportunities is maintaining the garden behind Crosslines, which is at 320 S. School Avenue, Joplin.
