Michael Macy Calef passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Webb City on the morning of July 20, 2026, at the age of 55 years old. He was born on Sept. 24, 1970, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Marshall and Ina Jean (Macy) Calef. He led a quiet life and was known to be steadfastly loyal and loving.
He will be deeply missed.
Michael was a husband, father, brother, son, friend, and overall a good man. He cared for and protected those whom he loved fiercely. He was easily loved by all who met him thanks to his sense of humor, thoughtfulness, and goofy nature.
He married his wife, Mechell (Montee) Wallace, in 2011 after a lifelong friendship and reconnecting decades after high school graduation. They shared a love that was rare and once-in-a-lifetime for over 15 years. It was easy to see their connection by just watching them together; they were two halves of a whole.
He demonstrated a hard-working nature as a forklift operator and previously as an EMT/volunteer firefighter. He worked at Jasper Products for 14 years. He considered his work colleagues as an extension of family, much like all of his friends.
He enjoyed traveling with Mechell and friends by motorcycle and will go on one final ride this fall to Mount Magazine in Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Patrick Calef and Dennis Skeels; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Mechell; his daughters, Brookylnn Calef, Katelynn Calef, Nattaley Bruce, Chandi Wallace and Camille Wallace-Clark; his brother, Marshall Calef Jr.; sisters, Lucy Ellis, Shirley Blair, Linda Mountain; eight grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
July 5, 1954 – July 16, 2026
Richard “Mike” Larson, age 72, passed away on July 16, 2026. He was born on July 5, 1954, in Joplin, to the late Richard and Wilma Larson.
He was raised in Carl Junction until age 8, when his family moved to a farm north of Carl Junction. He attended Waco Elementary School and then graduated from Carl Junction High School in 1972. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from Missouri Southern State University. He was hired to teach math and to coach at Carl Junction by former superintendent Jerry B. Stark.
Mike taught for five years, and during this time he married the love of his life, Julia L. Speakman, on May 31, 1980. After teaching, he decided to farm with his father. Upon returning to teaching, he moved to Briarbrook and resided there for 40 years.
He has two loving children, Alex Michael and Kirsten Lynne. He was a Methodist his entire life, attending New Hope United Methodist, Carl Junction Methodist, and Pleasant Hill Methodist Church. He was rebaptized in July 2020 by Pastor Bob Simon in his backyard pool.
After 27 years of education at CJHS, he worked at the Joplin YMCA and refereed football and basketball for 10 years. He was the Southwest Missouri Athletic Director of the Year in 1997 and selected to the inaugural class of the Carl Junction Athletics Hall of Fame.
Mike’s family was his entire life. His kids and grandkids meant everything to him, and he loved spending time with them. He is survived by his wife Julie; his son, Alex, and daughter, Kirsten; his sister, Cindy and husband Donnie; his grandkids, Evey, Smith, Ace, Josie and Tennessee; his nephew, Austin, and niece, Rachel; along with many cousins.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Carl Junction High School Gymnasium, with Chaplain Roger Flint officiating. Burial was in Carl Junction Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mike Larson Iron Dog Scholarship Fund in care of Parker Mortuary.
Sept. 17, 1954 – July 13, 2026
We gather here to celebrate the life of Jhonnie ”Faye” Lasiter, a compassionate and dedicated woman who filled the hearts of all who knew her with love and warmth. Born Jhonnie Faye Clemons on Sept. 17, 1954, in Jackson, Miss., she was a beacon of kindness and generosity. Jhonnie Faye was a proud and loving daughter to her parents, Clifford Clemons and Myrtle White, who preceded her in death.
Jhonnie Faye spent her life in service to others, embodying the words of Maya Angelou, who said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” As a nurses aid in a nursing home for over three decades, she delivered care with a gentleness and dedication that never wavered. Even after her retirement in 2022, Jhonnie Faye remained a generous soul known for her crochet work, lively bingo games, and fun-filled bunco nights. These hobbies were but an extension of her loving spirit that always put family at the center of her world.
Her residence in Webb City was not just a house, but a home filled with love and laughter where she lived for 30 years. She was a wonderful person and the best wife, married since Aug. 26, 1972. Jhonnie Faye’s life was marked by love given and received, and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. Her passing on July 13, 2026, is not an end, but the beginning of an everlasting legacy of love, compassion, and dedication.
Proceeding Faye in death are her father and mother; and her sister, Ceceila Joyce Stagen, of Reno, Nev.
Surviving Faye are her husband, Finis Richard Lasiter, of Webb City; her sister, Sue Fuller, of Ely, Nev.; brother, Clifford Leon Clemons, of Apple Valley, Calif., and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Friday, July 17, 2026, at Simpson Funeral Home.
Sept. 21, 1970 – July 13, 2026
Angela Linnett Wittner, age 55, of Webb City, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.
Angie was born on Sept. 21, 1970, in Carthage, to the late Jerry and Evelyn “Pauline” (Clark) Rea. She graduated from Webb City High School in 1988 and carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and perseverance throughout her life. Angie built a meaningful career with Liberty Utilities, where she served as a business account manager for more than six years. She took great pride in her work and truly enjoyed being part of the Liberty Utilities family. Angie was blessed with three children, Ashley, Autumn and Rylan. She married John Wittner on Feb. 5, 2009, in Joplin. Together they enjoyed fishing, and those peaceful times were among her favorite memories. They were blessed with 17 years of marriage before Angie’s passing. Angie found joy in the simple and meaningful parts of life. She loved spending time with her family and treasured the moments they shared together. Angie was a homebody at heart, happiest when surrounded by the comfort of home and the people she loved. She also enjoyed taking selfies and photos of her family, preserving special moments that reflected her deep affection for those closest to her. Her life was also marked by courage. She was a cancer survivor over five years ago. Angie will be remembered for the love she gave so freely and for the many ways she enriched the lives of those around her. Her family and friends will forever cherish her laughter and gentle spirit.
In addition to her parents, Angie was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Dan Wininger; and a nephew, Justin Willis.
Angie is survived by her loving husband, John Wittner; three children, Ashley Allen and husband, Nate, Autumn Patterson, and Rylan Wittner; three grandchildren, Gracyn, Jensen and Theo; three sisters, Kathy Wininger, Glenda Willis and husband Rusty, and Debbie Rogers and husband Dyton; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ed and Loretta Wittner.
Memorial contributions may be made to Endometrial Cancer Research Foundation or a cancer foundation of choice.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 18, 2026, with Dustin Morland officiating at Parker Mortuary.
