Motorcyclist killed at Zora and Range Line

A 28-year-old Webb City man was killed Tuesday night when his motorcycle struck a car turning in front of him on Range Line Road at Zora Street.

Police Chief Don Melton said witnesses at the scene told officers that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate speed prior to striking the front passenger side of the turning car. 

The motorcyclist, identified as Juan Gabria Gonzalez-Correa, 28, of Webb City, was thrown off his motorcycle. He was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, where he succumbed of his injuries.

Webb City officers were called to the scene at 22:23 hours (10:23 p.m.) Tuesday, June 14. Melton said they determined the motorcycle was southbound on Range Line as the northbound car was turning left (west) onto Zora.

The driver of the passenger car was a 22-year old man from rural Webb City.

Melton said officers are continuing the investigation of the crash.

Wednesday, June 1

15:10 – Officers were dispatched to WCPD for a walk-in report of credit card fraud.

Thursday, June 2

On 06-02-2022 at 0631 hours, I was dispatched to the station for a theft that occurred at 824 N. East Street. The victim reported someone had stolen his prescription medications. A report was taken.

13:24 – I was dispatched to the 1900 block of N. Range Line Road for a report of a suitcase in the roadway. I arrived and located a partial vintage briefcase which contained a folder of documents. The documents were later secured as property.

17:14 – I was dispatched to A1 East Mini Storage, (1215 W 14th St. A 36-year-old female was issued a citation for property damage.

Saturday, June 4

20:37 – Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of N. Webb St. in reference to a runaway. The child was located and returned to the parent(s).

20:39 – An officer was dispatched to Sleep Inn and Suites in reference to a motor vehicle theft.

12:10 – I was dispatched to 3525 Red Iron Drive for a past-tense theft.

Officers conducted a traffic stop for speeding at South Hall Street and Enterprise Avenue. One male was arrested for a failure-to-appear warrant.

Sunday, June 5

19:55 – Officers responded to the 1300 block of W. 16th St. in reference to a possible suicidal person. A 25-year-old male was taken into custody for a mental evaluation.

23:09 – A missing person report was created for a 30-year-old female from the 1000 block of W. First St.

20:38 – Officers were dispatched to Madison and 13th streets in reference to a two-vehicle, non-injury motor vehicle crash.

22:06 – Officers were dispatched to the area of Main and Church streets in reference to a possible careless and imprudent driver. The vehicle was located at Main and Daugherty Streets and a traffic stop was conducted. The 36-year-old female was cited and arrested for improper lane use, no valid driver’s license, and driving while intoxicated.

07:10 – Officers were dispatched to 14th Street and Cheryl Lane in reference to a suspicious person. One adult female was taken into custody.

Monday, June 6

11:30 – Officers received information about a stolen U-haul truck sitting at Kum & Go, 411 S Madison St. The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen and one male occupant was taken into custody.

13:11 – I was dispatched to the 800 block of N. Madison St. for a runaway. The caller reported her 14-year-old son as failing to return home.

14:54 – I was dispatched to the 600 block of S. Hall St. for a follow-up on a runaway juvenile. While on scene, the parent of a second runaway wanted to report her 14-year-old son as missing.

22:04 – I initiated a traffic stop with a blue BMW for failing to stop at Madison and Daugherty streets. It was found that the juvenile driver was a victim of an assault that had just occurred in the 600 block of N. Madison St.

14:50 – I was dispatched to 4557 E. Zora St. for a disturbance. A report was taken for a domestic assault.

11:00 – Officers responded to Madison Street and Fountain Road for a two-vehicle non-injury accident.

Tuesday, June 7

05:02 – Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of N. Oronogo St. to investigate a suspicious vehicle. One 43-year-old male was arrested for some outstanding warrants for his arrest.

15:31 – Officers were dispatched to the corner of Vine and Hall streets for a disturbance. The station received reports about an argument on the empty corner lot which resulted in gunfire. The investigation revealed a nearby man was trespassing on the property and eventually confronted a representative of the property owner causing him to fire a single shot from a handgun which was not fired directly at the trespasser. A 36-year-old man was arrested for trespassing and assault.

18:17 – An officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a past-tense theft report. The victim reported a blue man’s wallet as stolen along with its contents. Evidence is being sought to identify any possible suspects.

21:57 – An officer was dispatched to WCPD to take a report of an animal bite that occurred the previous day at 119 S. Tom St. As a result, the animal in question was identified as well as the owner, a quarantine process was started, and an incident report was completed.

15:06 – Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of S. Ball St. for a past-tense assault. A report was completed and forwarded to the county juvenile office.

Friday, June 8

17:41 – An officer was dispatched to WCPD for a past-tense assault that had occurred at Walmart.

13:50 –  I was dispatched to Hall Street and MacArthur Drive for a non-injury, two-vehicle, motor vehicle accident.

11:50 – I was dispatched to 405 N. Webb St. for a past-tense theft from a motor vehicle.

Saturday, June 9

16:57 – An officer was dispatched to 4449 Country Blvd. in reference to a theft.

00:24 – Officers were dispatched to 660 E. Daugherty St. in reference to a disturbance in progress.

15:48 – I conducted a traffic stop on Hall Street near Enterprise Avenue. The driver was later taken into custody for an outstanding warrant.

20:27 – A report was created for an assault that occurred at Oak and Central streets involving two juveniles.

Friday, June 10

11:06 – I was dispatched to WCPD in reference to stolen vehicle at 314 N. Liberty St.

Saturday, June 11

18:09 – Officers were dispatched to Casey’s, 337 S. Main St. in reference to a subject attempting to leave with possibly no valid license.

09:48 – Officers were dispatched to an ex-parte violation that had occurred at 814 W. 11th St. A probable cause statement has been forwarded to the Jasper County Prosecutors Office.

12:05 – I was dispatched to 114 S. Main St. for threats. A report was taken for harassment.
