Badges & Burgers Thursday

Help city employees do good by eating something good

Want to do good while enjoying a mouth-watering hamburger? Don’t forget to attend the annual Badges & Burgers fundraiser.

Serving will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Webb City Fire Department, 506 S. Ellis St.

For only $5, you can enjoy a hamburger, chips, a cookie and a drink.

After dining (or taking out) you will also be encouraged on the silent auction items and buy raffle tickets.

The event was established by the police department but has now been adopted by all city staff, who donate the hamburger patties and cookies.

Police Chief Don Melton says the proceeds will be donated to three organizations and Project Love in Action, which is a fund for city employees with urgent needs.

The three organizations are the Webb City Senior Citizens Center, the United Way of Southwest Missouri, and Webb City CARES.

Kids will be dismissed early Friday to go trick-or-treating downtown

Webb City businesses are stocking up on treats to hand out Friday afternoon during the annual Downtown Trick or Treat event.

As usual, students will be dismissed early from school so they can go trick-or-treating downtown. Other businesses away from downtown may also be participating.

The class-dismissal schedule is: 12:25 p.m. for junior high and high school; 12:35 p.m. for middle school; and 12:45 p.m. for elementary and kindergarten schools.
