Tuesday, Sept. 8, will be the last day to register for youth volleyball at The W Club.
This is the first time the city has had a youth volleyball league.
There are two divisions, both coed: 3rd/4th grade and 5th/6th grade.
Practices will begin Oct. 5, with games on Monday nights, beginning Nov. 2. Coaches are needed.

Water pressure dropped significantly in Carterville after one of the larger trunk mains from the water tower broke.
Throughout the night, public works crews were at work trying to locate and fix the break. Meanwhile, a boil order was issued from City Hall as a precautionary measure because of the low pressure.
Heat and lack of rain were cited as possible reasons for the break.
It was hoped the problem could be corrected by Wednesday, but the boil order was still in effect.
Visit Joplin, in partnership with the Heart of the Ozarks Model T Club, will host the 2026 annual gathering of the Model T Ford Clubs of America and the 43rd Annual Hillbilly Tour, Sept. 7 – 12, 2026.
The public is invited to view the vintage automobiles outside the Joplin History & Museum Complex from 4:30 – 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Model T owners will be present to show their cars and answer questions during this time.
Motor tour activities will occur throughout the event, so the public is asked to be patient with these slow-moving vehicles as they travel across our region.
“The Heart of the Ozarks Model T Club is proud to team with Visit Joplin to bring the 43rd Annual Hillbilly Tour and the 2026 Model T Ford Club of America (MTFCA) National Tour to Joplin,” says Karl Goodson, local chapter and planning committee representative. “We love nothing more than sharing our Model T experiences with the people we meet along the way, and we look forward to bringing these historic cars, their stories, and their enthusiastic owners to Joplin.”
