Paint the Town Red next week

Next week is Paint the Town Red week in advance of Webb City High School’s homecoming game with Willard on Oct. 1.

The Webb City Area Chamber of Commerce is encouraging businesses to decorate for Paint the Town Red.

Highlighting the week will be the parade and bonfire on Wednesday, Sept. 29. The parade on Main Street will start at 6 p.m. and be followed by the bonfire east of the middle school. A parade registration form and more information is online.

Activities at the bonfire will include axe throwing, a cornhole competition and food trucks. The night will conclude with fireworks.

ALBA ALL SCHOOL REUNION 2021 

The Alba All School Reunion will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2 in Truman Elementary School’s shelter building.

 You didn’t have to graduate from Alba to attend. It will mostly be a time to catch up with old friends.  Chicken Annie’s boxed lunches will be available to purchase for $7.

HEALTHCARE CAREER EXPO

A virtual employee hiring event, Healthcare Career Expo, is scheduled for 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7.

DETOUR AROUND HWY 171/96 JUNCTION FOR UP TO TWO MONTHS 

Highway 171, as well as Highway 96/Route YY, will be closed for up to two months beginning Thursday, Sept. 28.

That intersection is being moved farther east from the railroad tracks while it is being converted to a roundabout. Detours will be on Highway 43 and Routes H, M and Z.
