Newly displayed photos are worth a visit to the genealogy room at the library

Members of the Webb City Area Genealogical Society have been busy preserving some of the photographs and items that have been donated to the society over the years.

One of the items is this adorable photograph of Mrs. Harry B. Hulett’s Sunday School class. The photo was taken on Oct. 2, 1921.

The names of the children are: Malcolm Rountree, Harry Wherry, Doane Stewart, Leroy Skinner, Beverly Davis, Dick Wherry, Margaret Harrison, Virginia Lee Purkhiser, Donald Wentroth and Alfred Hulett.

Please feel free to visit the genealogy room to see the displays. We are located on the third floor of the Webb City Library. Our hours are Monday-Friday, noon to 4 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sentinel bound volumes are now in the Genealogy Room

The WCAGS has accepted ownership of the complete collection of bound volumes of the Webb City Sentinel, from 1983 (after the fire) until the final issue on Dec. 30, 2020.

Those issues can also be viewed on microfilm, along with much older issues.
