No. 1 Webb City advances to district semis

The number-one seed Webb City Cardinals advanced in the Class 3 District 6 soccer tournament Tuesday by defeating Parkview 4-0.

The Cardinals (11-8) now face Willard at 5 p.m. Thursday in the semifinal round at Branson. Fourth-ranked Willard defeated Carl Junction 5-1 in the opening round.

The other semifinal, with second-ranked Branson against Springfield Central, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The district final will be at 6 p.m. Monday.

Football resumes Friday with home district game against Belton

The Webb City Cardinals, coming off their bye week, will host the Belton Pirates at 7 p.m. Friday at Cardinal Stadium.

The 7-2 Cardinals got last week off by virtue of being the top seed in the Class 5 District 7 tournament.

Belton (6-4), the fourth seed, defeated Ruskin 43-19 in the first round.

In the two other first-round games, Raytown South (No. 2) defeated Neosho 35-14, and Carthage (No. 3) defeated Smith-Cotton 42-3.

The 6-4 Carthage Tigers will travel Friday to Raytown South (8-2).

The district final will be played Nov. 10.
