NO VACANCY (not really); Room reservations available by phone
Despite what it says online, Webb City’s new and only hotel, the Sleep Inn and Suites, is now accepting reservations.
City Administrator Carl Francis told the City Council Monday that the parent company, Choice Hotels, typically tells website visitors that new motels are sold out before they officially open.
Out-of-town parents and players here for the state Little League tournaments here this week are encouraged to book their stay at Sleep Inn.
He said you can bypass the website, by calling the local number, (417) 717-0497. Sleep Inn has been under construction on the northeast corner of the roundabout, of course. The address is 221 S. East St.
Webb City Public Works won’t be popular Thursday morning with motorists who routinely commute on East Street.
That’s because East Street has to be cut to extend a sewer main from the west to the east side of the street.
Traffic will be detoured west on Gene Hatfield Drive to Main Street or east to Carterville on Sharon Drive.
