The Webb City fight song was played with the usual vigor Wednesday morning to pep up – not the football team – but the entire district staff.
Approximately 700 teachers, administrators, secretaries, cooks, janitors and bus drivers were in the Barton Performing Arts Center for their annual back-to-school meeting.
The 4,500 students will be back starting Monday.
Superintendent Brenten Byrd did his best to “instill a fire” in the staff, imploring them to build meaningful relationships with kids and focus on really good teaching.
“The kids deserve our best every day,” he said. “Let’s change lives one kid at a time.”
A successful year will depend on staff members being at their best. He also urged them to support each other, as well as the students. He added that he and the other administrators are “always here to help.”
The event was a debut for the brighter house lighting that was installed this summer in Barton Performing Arts Center.
